Should you shorten your putter? Yes, simple logic would dictate the closer you are to the ball and the shorter the

length of your putting stroke the easier it is to see the putt and to repeat the stroke.

 

Most OEM’s and custom shops just hack the butt to length. That seems a bit cavalier (or is it just plain lazy?). Does

it matter? Do the OEM custom shops care?

 

Let’s look at the putter shaft dimensions of a 35 inch True Temper step-less 0.60 butt shaft with 0.370 tip.

The parallel sections at the butt and tip along with the taper of the shaft gives each shaft a unique vibration and

harmonic. A unique feel occurs when combined with grip, head weight and shape.

 

As you cut from the butt, every inch changes the relationship between the parallel and taper sections and the putter’s
